Don't replace the whole X-ray unit. Send us your failed tube head and we rebuild it in our own Florida-registered shop, test it, and ship it back with a one-year warranty.

A failed tube head usually means the rest of your X-ray — arm, wall mount, control and timer — is still good. Rebuilding the head costs a fraction of a new unit and avoids new cabinetry, electrical work and a full re-installation.

Very few shops in the country actually open, rebuild and test dental tube heads in house. Most resell used heads pulled from other offices. ABC Dentalworks does the work here, and warranty work is done here too.

How Mail-In Tube Head Repair Works

Request a quote. Use the form below or call. Send the make, model, serial number, the symptom, and photos of the head and its label.
Ship it in. We give you a return authorization number and shipping instructions.
Evaluation and written quote. We evaluate the head and send you a written quote. No repair work is done without your approval.
Service and test. We complete the approved work and test the head in our shop.
Back to you. We ship it back, covered by our one-year in-house warranty.

Our Tube Head Service Process

Every head moves through the same staged process, whatever the brand. What happens inside each stage depends on what your head needs, and we tell you before we do it.

STAGE 1

Incoming Evaluation

Every head is inspected and diagnosed on arrival. We identify the failure and recommend the right level of service before any work begins.

STAGE 2

Teardown & Inspection

The head is opened and the housing, seals and internal components are inspected.

STAGE 3

Restoration

Failed components are replaced. If the tube insert has failed, the head is reloaded with a replacement insert.

STAGE 4

Oil Service & Sealing

The insulating oil is serviced and the head is resealed and checked for leaks.

STAGE 5

Test & Verify

The head is operated and checked before it is cleared to ship.

STAGE 6

Documented & Warranted

Every job is documented, and the head ships with our one-year in-house warranty.

Three Levels of Service

Reseal & Oil Service for heads that leak or have oil-related faults but still have a healthy tube.
Reload for heads with a failed tube insert. Your housing is kept, the insert is replaced, and the head gets the full service.
Exchange when you can't wait. We ship a refurbished head from stock and your old head comes back to us as the core.

Rebuilt In Our Own State-Registered Shop

ABC Dentalworks is registered with the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation Control, X-Ray Machine Section as a radiation machine service and remanufacture facility, registration V-1170. Rebuilds and warranty work are done in our own shop, not sent out to a third party.

Tube Head Repair FAQ

Is it worth repairing a tube head instead of replacing the X-ray?

Usually. When the arm, mount and control are working, rebuilding or swapping only the head costs far less than a new unit and installation.

Can you fix an oil leak?

Yes. Leaking heads are one of the most common repairs we see. Stop using a head that is leaking oil and contact us.

How long does it take?

We give you a turnaround estimate with your written quote. If you need to stay up and running, ask about swapping a refurbished head from stock.

Will my X-ray need to be re-registered?

Some states require re-registration or re-certification after a tube head change. Check with your state radiation control program. Installation should be done by a qualified dental X-ray service technician.

Do you install?

We provide on-site service for offices within about 100 miles of ZIP 34445 in Central Florida. Everywhere else, we rebuild by mail and your service technician installs.

What if my head isn't repairable?

We tell you before any work is done, and we can offer a refurbished replacement from stock.
